With over 20 years of experience in education, I have had the privilege of serving students with a wide range of challenges and learning abilities. My mission at Fitra School is to support the growth of every student by upholding high academic standards and fostering an environment rooted in Islamic values. I am committed to creating a space where students not only excel in their studies but also grow in their faith and character, InshaAllah. My goal is to bridge the gap between curriculum design and student success, ensuring that each child is given the opportunity to reach their full potential while staying connected to their Islamic identity.
Assalamu alaikum! I’m a dedicated Syrian mother and an accomplished educator with a deep passion for the Holy Quran. I hold a Master’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Ottawa and has been honored with an Ijaza in the Holy Quran, in addition to over 10 years of experience teaching Quran. I served as a Tajweed teacher at Cordova Academy for two years and was the Head of the Quran Department at Abrar School for two years. In addition, I spent six years teaching Quran at Al Furqan Full-Time School. My goal is to inspire a love for the Quran in the students, helping them connect deeply with Allah's words. I’m commitment shaping the next generation of Muslims with strong Islamic values and a deep understanding of the Quran, Insha’Allah.
Assalam Alaikom! I am Jumana Jabur, a passionate educator with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from McGill University. Previous schools I have taught at are Abraar Elementary and Al Rahma. I am also a qualified educator for the “Tafakkur program” and had the honor of teaching it for 3 years. Besides teaching, I enjoy reading and traveling, especially to places where I can admire beautiful scenery that connects me to the Creator. I believe that having the right mindset and a vision for growth in a creative environment is what makes a successful educator.
Assalamualaikum! I’m Salma Kamel, a passionate Arabic educator with a bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Arts, Department of Greek and Roman Studies. I am certified in The 7 Habits of Happy Kids program and trained in the Qaida Noorania method for teaching Arabic reading. I’ve had the privilege of teaching Kindergarten 1 and 2, as well as Level 1 Arabic, at Fitra School, and I bring with me prior teaching experience from Dubai. I love creating engaging, hands-on lessons that spark curiosity and foster a love for the Arabic language. Beyond the classroom, I enjoy exploring my creativity through drawing and the arts, and I’m an avid reader who is always seeking new ideas and inspiration. For me, teaching is more than a job—it’s about inspiring young hearts and minds every single day
Assalamualaikum! I am Yumna Umer, an enthusiastic educator with a Master’s degree in mathematics and statistics from University of Ottawa. In addition to my degree, I have a five year of teaching experience where I taught math and science to elementary and math to middle school learners, in multiple countries where I immensely enjoyed mentoring curious learners. I also have a one-on-one online tutoring experience to an 11th grade student where I got familiar with Ontario curriculum. Besides an educator, I am a vibrant and creative individual who loves adventurous trips in nature whenever I can and mostly during my free time. I also enjoy cooking new recipes which turn out delicious if I’M LUCKY! 😊

I spent most of my school years in Qatar, building a strong Islamic foundation, before moving to Canada for high school and earning my B.A. in Business Law with a Minor in Entrepreneurship. In my classroom, I want students to feel comfortable, curious, and confident to share their voices.
